Counselling Terms & Conditions
Caroline Gregory Counselling Services
These terms outline how counselling sessions are provided and the arrangements agreed between us.
Counselling sessions
Counselling is available face-to-face, online and by telephone.
Sessions are normally 50 minutes and take place at an agreed regular time where possible.
Counselling is a collaborative process. We will review our work together as appropriate and discuss any changes to the counselling arrangement.
Fees and payment
The current session fee will be agreed with you before counselling begins.
Payment is made by bank transfer and should normally be received before the session.
Reduced rates may be available in certain circumstances, including for student and trainee counsellors.
Cancellation and missed appointments
Please provide as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.
Appointments cancelled with insufficient notice or missed without notice may be charged at the full session rate.
Any exceptional circumstances will be considered on an individual basis.
Confidentiality
Our counselling sessions are confidential, subject to the limitations explained in your counselling agreement and privacy notice.
Confidentiality may need to be limited where there is a serious concern about your safety or the safety of another person, safeguarding concerns, a legal requirement to disclose information, or another circumstance where disclosure is legally and ethically justified.
I may discuss aspects of my work with my clinical supervisor as part of responsible professional practice. Information is anonymised wherever possible.
Contact between sessions
Email, telephone, text and WhatsApp may be used for practical communication, such as arranging appointments.
These methods are not intended to provide counselling or crisis support between sessions.
If you are experiencing an emergency or believe you or someone else is at immediate risk, please contact the appropriate emergency or crisis service rather than relying on contact with me.
Online counselling
For online sessions, you are responsible for choosing a private and suitable space where you can speak confidentially and without interruption.
Reasonable steps will be taken to maintain privacy and security, although no online communication can be guaranteed to be completely risk-free.
Ending counselling
Counselling can be ended by either the client or counsellor. Where possible, we will discuss the ending in advance and use the final sessions to reflect on the work and bring counselling to an appropriate close.
Professional standards
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
These terms form part of the counselling agreement and may be reviewed where necessary.
